The Nature of Science

These sessions will inspire your staff and students to find out more about the scientific process and how it relates to their lives.

Science Stunt

The Science in a Van team really knows how to get noticed!

We have loads of loud and impressive science stunts that will get your school fired up about science. They always involve volunteers from the crowd and leave everyone wanting more.

Perfect to kick start the day!

Years 0-8, 20 minutes, no limit on size

Science in a Bag - Teachers' Session

Science in a Bag is a professional development session which will bring the staff at your school together with a bang!

Together they get hands-on with four different experiments. Everyone will discover how easy it is to get the Physical and Material World strands into the classroom and will leave this session with the confidence and skills to facilitate the same experience with their own students.

Maximum 60 Teachers, 60 minutes

The Physical World

We can’t see forces but we can see what they do. These sessions are a fun way to enable your students to get to grips with physics.

Billy Goats Gruff - A tale of competing forces

A classic tale with some new twists! Your juniors will be spellbound as they watch the crafty goats apply their knowledge of forces to move the terrifying troll. By the end of this storytelling your students will be able to use the word ‘force’ and understand the effect of pulling and pushing a stationary object.

Suitable for Years 0-4, 30 minutes

Move It!

How do things move? What keeps us ‘grounded’? Why do some things move faster than others?

During this interactive show your students will learn what Newton’s three laws of motion are all about and then apply that knowledge to enable Space Chick Steve to fly across the room! This show will answer all your how, what and whys about forces and inspire your students to generate even more questions about forces!

Suitable for Years 4-10, 45 minutes

The Material World

These sessions reveal what materials are, how they can change and why using science to understand materials is so essential.

The Wonderful World of Bubbles

Bubbles are a fantastic tool to learn about some fundamental scientific ideas. This experience facilitates exploration of identifying, classifying and investigating materials. Students will get an understanding of mixtures, how they can separate and how they can come together to create a reaction!
Suitable for Years 0-4, 45 minutes

What's the Matter?

What are the three states of matter? Can they change from one state to another?  This experience will answer tons of questions about solids, liquids and gases. It introduces the periodic table in a fun way and demonstrates how the different elements can come together to make different materials. We discuss how materials can change with temperature and pressure and enjoy explosive experiments!
Suitable for Years 5-8, 45 minutes

The Liquid Nitrogen Experience

If you want something that your students will remember forever, this show is for you!  At -196 degrees Celsius liquid nitrogen is the coldest material you'll ever see.  We focus on observations relating to the changes that occur when materials get super cold as they come into contact with this unique material.
Suitable for all ages! Lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour
Please note this session can only be performed up to twice per day. There is an additional charge of $150.00 when booked as part of the Ultimate and Half-Day Packages.
